Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Advocates for Human Rights are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who work widely against human rights abuses. They work to improve laws and lives worldwide and for individual victims of human rights violations. For over 30 years, they've focused on refugees, immigrants, women, children, ethnic and religious minorities, and other marginalized communities. Their volunteers investigate violations, represent those seeking asylum, train other groups, and engage the community at large while pushing for legal policy reform.
The Advocates for Human Rights needed an update template designed for their one-page, fold-over brochure using their existing style guide and following the example of a previous designer for their mailed newspaper of utilizing circle elements and blocked color to differentiate information. The template was designed based on their needs with instructions on how to adjust spacing depending on fluctuating content needs in the long-term. For use alongside their brochures, they also needed an insert page for gathering volunteer and donor information.
“Working with Franki is so easy and efficient, I would recommend her to any organization, no matter how small its budget. She is smart, a great listener, and an amazingly creative designer.
Her careful study of our style guide meant that her first drafts were nearly the final draft—with just a few tweaks needed.
She is also fast and kept us moving quickly through projects. It is a pleasure working with her.”
Ellen van Iwaarden,
Communications & Outreach Director
